Representasi Pesantren dalam Novel Rumah Karya J.S. Khairen Identitas Islam, Otoritas Religius, dan Produksi Makna Budaya

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis representasi kehidupan pesantren dalam novel Rumah karya J.S. Khairen melalui perspektif teori representasi Stuart Hall. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif interpretatif dengan paradigma konstruktivis. Data penelitian berupa narasi, dialog, dan simbol tekstual yang merepresentasikan kehidupan pesantren. Data dikumpulkan melalui teknik close reading dan dianalisis menggunakan reflexive thematic analysis yang diintegrasikan dengan konsep representasi, artikulasi, dan relasi kuasa Stuart Hall. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pesantren dalam novel direpresentasikan secara ambivalen sebagai ruang disiplin religius sekaligus arena negosiasi identitas, resistensi simbolik, dan transformasi emosional. Religiusitas santri tidak digambarkan sebagai identitas yang stabil dan homogen, tetapi sebagai praktik sosial yang terus dinegosiasikan melalui relasi antara otoritas pesantren, pengalaman personal, budaya populer, dan dinamika emosional tokoh. Penelitian ini juga menemukan bahwa representasi pesantren dalam sastra kontemporer Indonesia mengalami pergeseran dari pola idealisasi moral menuju konstruksi afektif yang lebih kompleks dan reflektif. Novel berfungsi sebagai medium komunikasi budaya yang memproduksi dan mendistribusikan wacana mengenai identitas Muslim muda, religiusitas, dan pengalaman hidup santri dalam konteks sosial kontemporer. Secara teoretis, penelitian ini memperluas penerapan teori representasi Stuart Hall dalam kajian sastra pesantren dengan menempatkan dimensi afektivitas dan subjektivitas sebagai bagian penting dari produksi makna budaya. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa pesantren dalam sastra Indonesia kontemporer direpresentasikan sebagai ruang diskursif tempat religiusitas, identitas, dan pengalaman emosional dinegosiasikan secara dinamis.
